Excursions
No one would blame you if you decided to spend your entire trip at TLB at the pool or beach. But as long as you’re here, why not take the opportunity to enjoy Jamiaca’s rich culture, history, and natural attractions.
Dunn's River Falls
Located 90 minutes from TLB, Dunns River Falls is a perennial favorite. Put on your watershoes and scale this gorgeous waterfall. It is an outing for all ages and skill levels.
Doctors Cave Beach
In 1906, Dr. Alexander McCatty donated a significant sum to develop and open a beach in Montego Bay with the clearest and warmest waters on the island. McCatty boasted that the waters in the cove held curative healing powers (they probably do not). Doctors Cave is a great stop for a livelier beach. Restaurants and bars (and a Starbucks) surround the area.
Glistening Waters (Bioluminescent Bay)
The planet hosts only five or six bioluminescent bays and one is twenty minutes away in nearby Falmouth at Glistening Waters Luminous Lagoon. Just after sunset, go out on a flat bottomed boat and watch the electric blue glow of the microorganisms as they respond to touch. Take it in from the boat or jump in and have an experience you’ll never forget. The bay glows brightest after sunny days and don’t forget your water shoes if you’re going to jump in.
Hummingbird Sanctuary
About 30 minutes from TLB, this understated bird sanctuary is home to dozens of species of hummingbirds and other native birds. Grab a sugarwater dropper and watch as these beautiful delicate birds perch onto your finger for a drink.
Appleton Rum Tour
Jamaica is home to the world’s finest rum – found on the Appleton Estate, a two hour drive from TLB. Your driver (and you definitely need a driver) will drive you around the coast or through the bush to get to the rum plantation. There, you will be welcomed with a rum punch and take a tour of the property, learning the history of rum and rum production on the island. At the end of your tour, enjoy a rum tasting of Appleton’s finest spirits.
Rose Hall Great House
Only five minutes from TLB is the Rose Hall Great House. Here, you will learn the interesting and harrowing history of Annie Palmer, the brutal plantation owner believed to have murdered husbands and slaves alike, and whose ghost is believed to haunt the grounds.
Horseback Riding
Do you want to spend time in the water, but also want to ride horses? You don’t have to choose. The Half Moon Equestrian Center, across the road from TLB can arrange oceanside horseback rides for you and your group. After your ride, rest on the beach or grab a drink at any of the Half Moon’s bars.
Catamaran/Yacht Cruises
Imagine the thrill of embarking on an unforgettable yacht adventure from Montego Bay! Whether you choose a lively party boat or a private charter for your group, the opportunities are endless. Let our dedicated team guide you in selecting the ideal vessel or charter company for an exhilarating morning at sea or a magical sunset cruise. The ocean awaits your next great experience!
Paint & Sip
Let TLB bring the “excursion” to you. During paint and sip, TLB will bring in a local artist to guide you and your group through a boozy art lesson overlooking the pool and grounds. Grab your favorite rum punch, wine, or beer and unleash your creativity.
Cockpit Country Hike
Take a stroll through the Jamaican bush in Cockpit Country. Hosted by the Southern Trelawny Environmental Agency, these tours are available for all skill levels. Tours can last from an hour to a half day. Bring lots of water and comfortable shoes. And start early to beat the heat.
